Montana, widely regarded as one of the NFL’s all-time greats himself, praised Miami Dolphins legend Dan Marino, naming him the best quarterback ever to play the game.

Montana emphasized Marino’s unparalleled talent, particularly his ability to throw the football. “I think Dan Marino is probably the best quarterback I’ve ever seen play,” Montana said. “He had a quick release, unbelievable arm strength, and could make every throw on the field. He changed the way the position was played.”

 

Montana also acknowledged Marino’s impact on the game despite playing in an era that didn’t feature the high-powered offensive systems we see today. “If Dan played in today’s NFL, with these rules favoring quarterbacks and receivers, his numbers would be untouchable. What he accomplished back then was remarkable.”
