Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in advanced negotiations to sign 17-year-old striker Mason Melia from St Patrick’s Athletic. The proposed deal is valued at approximately €1 million (£825,000). Melia, who has been a standout performer in the League of Ireland, became St Patrick’s youngest-ever player and goal-scorer at just 15 years old. He has since made over 50 appearances, netting ten goals and providing three assists.
Despite the mutual interest, Melia’s move to Tottenham faces a delay due to Brexit regulations, which prevent players under 18 from transferring to UK clubs. As Melia turns 18 in September 2025, he would only be eligible to join Spurs in January 2026. In the interim, he is expected to continue his development at St Patrick’s Athletic.
Tottenham’s pursuit of Melia underscores their commitment to nurturing young talent, aligning with their recent acquisitions of promising players. While the transfer cannot be finalized until Melia reaches the eligible age, both parties are reportedly keen to secure an agreement that would see the young striker don the Spurs jersey in the near future.
