In a significant move, the New York Mets have re-signed star first baseman Pete Alonso to a five-year contract extension, ensuring his presence with the team through the 2029 season. Alonso, who debuted with the Mets in 2019, has been a consistent power hitter, notably setting the rookie home run record with 53 homers in his inaugural season.
