As of January 26, 2025, Eddie George has not been officially appointed as the head coach of the Chicago Bears. Recent reports indicate that he interviewed for the position on January 19, 2025.
Eddie George, 51, has been the head coach at Tennessee State University since 2021. Under his leadership, the Tigers improved from a 5-6 record in his first season to a 9-4 mark in 2024, earning a share of the Big South-Ohio Valley Conference title and an FCS playoff berth. His efforts earned him the Big South-OVC Coach of the Year honors.
Before his coaching career, George had a distinguished NFL tenure, primarily with the Tennessee Titans, where he played from 1996 to 2003. He was the 1996 AP Offensive Rookie of the Year and was selected an All-Pro in 2000. He made four consecutive Pro Bowls from 1997 to 2000 before wrapping up his career with one season in Dallas in 2004.
The Bears are conducting an extensive search to replace former head coach Matt Eberflus, who was dismissed after 12 games into the season. George is among several candidates being considered for the role.
As of now, no official announcement has been made regarding the appointment of a new head coach for the Chicago Bears.
