In 2025, Fenway Park will once again celebrate two of its legendary figures: George Scott and Carl Yastrzemski. These two Red Sox icons left an indelible mark on the franchise, and fans continue to honor their contributions to the game.
Carl Yastrzemski, affectionately known as “Yaz,” remains one of the greatest players in Red Sox history. His 1967 Triple Crown season—batting .326 with 44 home runs and 121 RBIs—led the team to an unforgettable pennant run in the “Impossible Dream” season. His leadership and all-around play made him a Red Sox legend, finishing his career with over 3,400 hits and 452 home runs.
George “Boomer” Scott, known for his power hitting and stellar defense at first base, was a key part of the Red Sox in the late 1960s and 1970s. In his 1967 season, Scott posted a solid .303 average with 19 home runs and 82 RBIs, helping fuel Boston’s historic run. His three Gold Glove Awards with the Red Sox showcased his incredible fielding skills.
As these legends are honored once more at Fenway, their legacies continue to inspire generations of Red Sox fans and players alike.
