Newcastle United have reportedly set a valuation exceeding £150 million for their star striker, Alexander Isak, amid interest from top clubs such as Arsenal and Liverpool. The 25-year-old Swedish international has been in exceptional form, netting 11 goals in 16 Premier League appearances this season, placing him just behind Erling Haaland and Cole Palmer in the 2024 scoring charts.
Isak, who joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad in August 2022 for a club-record fee of £63 million, is under contract until 2028. Despite his long-term commitment, discussions about extending his contract have been described by manager Eddie Howe as a “complex situation,” primarily due to the club’s need to adhere to profit and sustainability regulations.
European giants including Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, and Real Madrid are also monitoring Isak’s situation. However, Newcastle remains firm in their stance, with no intention of selling the striker. The club is reportedly “relaxed” about his future and is not interested in cashing in, viewing the high valuation as a deterrent to potential suitors.
Manager Eddie Howe has praised Isak’s calm demeanor and effectiveness in front of goal, stating, “He is calm, cool, he is what you see on the pitch. He doesn’t get overly emotional, which for a striker is a great quality.”
As the January transfer window approaches, Newcastle’s resolve to retain their star forward will likely be tested, but the club appears determined to keep Isak as a central figure in their ambitions.
