Shocking: One of Pink Floyd Super Star has passed away at 50years old after been involved in a ghastly accident…

David Gilmour, who rose to prominence as the guitarist and co-lead vocalist of Pink Floyd, is set to release a new album, Luck and Strange, in September. Ahead of the pending release, Gilmour has said that he believes the record is the “best” he’s made since releasing The Dark Side of the Moon in 1973.

The musician has been working hard on the new album, which comes nine years after his last solo record, Rattle That Lock. He began his solo career in 1978 with his self-titled album, and Gilmour has released several more over the years while also contributing to Pink Floyd.

Gilmour’s fifth album has been made in collaboration with his family, such as his wife, Polly Samson, who has written a large portion of the lyrics, and his children. Producers David and Charlie Andrew have assisted Gilmour, which he found to be a refreshing experience.

“We invited Charlie to the house, so he came and listened to some demos, and said things like, ‘Well, why does there have to be a guitar solo there?’ and ‘Do they all fade out? Can’t some of them just end?’. He has a wonderful lack of knowledge or respect for this past of mine. He’s very direct and not in any way overawed, and I love that. That is just so good for me because the last thing you want is people just deferring to you,” he explained.

The album, which features eight tracks, will feature keys from the late Richard Wright, who was an on-and-off member of Pink Floyd from 1965 until he died in 2008. He recorded the parts that Gilmour has used back in 2007.

As a result of this collaborative and new way of working, Gilmour is rather impressed with the final result. Talking to Prog, he declared it to be one of the greatest projects he’s ever made – seemingly claiming it’s better than albums like The Wall.

“It’s over 50 years now since The Dark Side Of The Moon. My feeling is that this album is the best album I’ve made in all those years since 1973 when The Dark Side Of The Moon came out,” he proudly asserted.

Luck and Strange will be available on September 6th, but the musician isn’t prepared to wait another nine years before making another album. Fans can also get excited by the fact that Gilmour is planning on getting back in the studio with the same people he made the album with for round two. “Our plan is just to get this one out and run it and then do another one straight away. I will be working with all these people again,” he added.
