I made some mistakes’: Zaire Franklin sends message to Indianapolis Colts fans….

Indianapolis Colts linebacker Zaire Franklin led the NFL in tackles this season, but that doesn’t mean things went perfectly either.

Franklin was one of three Colts players to make the Pro Bowl in 2024-25 despite a disappointing end to the season. His podcast, The Trenches, also caught on with fans. It did cause some controversy though.

On Tuesday, Franklin posted to X to say he “made some mistakes.”

While Franklin did not specify what the mistakes were, it got to the point where Colts head coach Shane Steichen said he would address a controversial moment of the podcast with Franklin and teammate E.J. Speed.

“Obviously, you’ve got to be smart with your words,” Steichen said. “You get that addressed, obviously, moving forward so it doesn’t happen again. … Some of the comments, (Franklin) knows he can’t do that, and we talk through those things.”

After a victory over the Tennessee Titans, Franklin said of Indianapolis’ AFC South rival: “Don’t let the door hit you where the good Lord split you.” In October, Franklin said: “I wanna play a team I know we gonna spank, like the #Giants or some (expletive). I wanna play a team that ain’t good with a big market. … Gimmie a 4-11 Giants team.”

The Colts would eventually lose to a 2-13 New York Giants team that ended Indianapolis’ chances at the playoffs.

The podcast was a target of ire from former Colts punter and current ESPN personality Pat McAfee, who unloaded on X and on “The Pat McAfee Show” after the loss to the Giants. McAfee was also the target of one of Franklin’s segments during the season when the linebacker went after national media personalities who called for Joe Flacco to start over Richardson.

Things didn’t end there. After the Colts’ season finale against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Franklin went over to McAfee’s suite on the field, which was empty the whole game, to “shake hands.”
