Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth Says She’s “Not Really a Fan” of Taylor Swift, But Likes Billie Eilish.

Kim Gordon has admitted she doesn’t really like Taylor Swift in a new Q&A with The Guardian. The Sonic Youth vocalist was asked to name her “most controversial” pop music opinion, and she replied with a doozey for girls under the age of 20.

“I don’t know if it’s controversial but I’m not really a fan of Taylor Swift,” she said, adding, “I couldn’t tell you what her music sounded like, actually.”

Gordon did reveal what she does like about pop music right now, though. “When it comes to pop icons, I would choose Billie Eilish,” she said.

Eilish released a new album this year, Hit Me Hard and Soft, that has continued her reign as a pop music icon. The album only comes in at 10 songs, but it’s a vulnerable exploration of identity, sexuality, and fame. There were mixed reviews of the short and sweet offering, but generally it was well-received. Taylor Swift, meanwhile, released the 31-track double album The Tortured Poets Department in April, which also drew mixed reviews from critics.
