Colts LB Zaire Franklin Breaks Silence After Inking New Two-Year Contract with Indianapolis

Indianapolis Colts linebacker Zaire Franklin has officially broken his silence following the announcement of his new two-year contract extension with the team. Franklin, who has been a key figure in the Colts’ defense since being drafted in 2018, expressed his excitement and gratitude in a statement released earlier today, marking the next chapter in his career with the franchise.

The deal, which was finalized earlier this week, ensures that Franklin will remain with the Colts through the 2026 season. The contract extension has been widely celebrated by both fans and teammates, as the 27-year-old linebacker has proven to be one of the most consistent and dependable players on the team.

Franklin spoke candidly about his decision to remain in Indianapolis, reflecting on his journey with the Colts. “It’s an honor to continue to wear the horseshoe and represent this city,” Franklin said. “I’ve been fortunate to grow here both as a player and a person, and I couldn’t be more excited to keep building with this team. I’m grateful to the organization for believing in me, and I’m looking forward to the next chapter.”

As a fourth-round pick out of Syracuse, Franklin quickly became a fan favorite in Indianapolis due to his relentless work ethic and leadership both on and off the field. Over the past few seasons, he has evolved into one of the top linebackers in the NFL, earning recognition for his ability to lead the defense, cover the field, and disrupt the opposing offense.

In 2024, Franklin led the Colts in tackles with over 140, cementing his role as a core piece of the team’s defensive unit. His versatility and intelligence in reading offenses have made him a key leader for defensive coordinator Gus Bradley’s scheme, and he has been widely regarded as one of the hardest-working players in the locker room.

The announcement of Franklin’s extension comes at a crucial time for the Colts, who are in the midst of a rebuilding process under head coach Shane Steichen. The franchise has made it clear that they are committed to surrounding their young roster with experienced leaders like Franklin to help guide the team back into playoff contention.

Colts General Manager Chris Ballard expressed his confidence in Franklin’s continued impact, stating, “Zaire is the type of player and leader we want in this organization. His work ethic, leadership, and consistency make him invaluable to our team. We’re thrilled to have him locked in for the next two years and beyond.”

For Franklin, the new contract represents both a personal and professional milestone, but he remains focused on the team’s goals. “The work’s not done,” Franklin added. “We’ve got big things ahead, and I’m excited to continue helping this team grow and reach new heights.”

With Franklin’s commitment now secured, Colts fans can look forward to seeing one of the league’s most promising linebackers continue to shine in Indianapolis for the foreseeable future.
