The Toronto Maple Leafs are reportedly considering a significant trade to bolster their roster for a Stanley Cup run. A proposed deal suggests acquiring New York Islanders’ captain Anders Lee, who is in the sixth year of a seven-year, $49 million contract. The trade would involve the Maple Leafs receiving Lee (with $2 million of his salary retained by the Islanders) in exchange for forward David Kämpf, winger Nick Robertson, and a 2026 first-round draft pick.

 

Lee, a top-six forward, has recorded 10 goals and 9 assists over 25 games this season, enhancing his value as a key offensive contributor. His addition would significantly strengthen Toronto’s offense.

 

Nick Robertson, 23, has shown potential but has struggled this season, tallying just 2 goals in 21 games. Analysts suggest that a change of scenery might benefit both Robertson and the Maple Leafs.

 

David Kämpf, known for his defensive capabilities and penalty-killing skills, would provide depth for the Islanders as a fourth-line center. This proposed trade reflects the Maple Leafs’ commitment to strengthening their roster in pursuit of a championship.
