Former LSU teammates Jayden Daniel and Malik Nabers are two of the favorites to take home the 2024 NFL Rookie of the Year award.

But before either one could take the field in the NFL, they were instructed to go back to class and learn more about the league’s gambling policies.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the rookie superstars were ordered to take additional gambling education courses after news of a $10,000 bet between the two regarding the Rookie of the Year award.

In an interview with The Pivot Podcast at the NFL Draft, Nabers said that he and Daniels had a bet on which of the two of them would win the award.

“We got a bet going for rookie of the year. Whoever lose gotta pay I think it’s $10,000 cash,” Nabers said on the podcast.

Daniels, of course, wasn’t thrilled that Nabers was so loose-lipped about the wager.

“Man, he wasn’t supposed to tell nobody. It’s supposed to be — we got a little something going on,” he told Keyshawn Johnson in a later interview.

The two eventually called off the bet after learning that it violated the NFL’s policy on gambling.

But they didn’t get off that easily.

“The league addressed the matter directly with the NFL Players Association, with the two teams, and the two players, to ensure that they understood the policy,” NFL executive V.P. Jeff Miller told the Washington Post. “They received multiple education training sessions since that time, and I think we’re in a — as a result of all the work that went into it we’re comfortable with the resolution.”
