Hernández served primarily as a relief pitcher during his stint in Los Angeles; however, now with the Brewers, he could likely serve as a starter due to the amount of injuries they’ve suffered to their rotation. The Brewers optioned James Meeker to Triple-A and placed DL Hall in the 60-day IL to make room for Hernández.

Hernández started his career with the Miami Marlins in 2018 after being selected by them in the 2017 Rule 5 draft. He spent five seasons in South Beach from 2018-22. he spent the 2023 season with the New York Mets organization, spending all his time in the minor leagues.

Hernández joined the Dodgers in Jan. 2024 after signing a minor league deal with the club. He began the season in Triple-A and was called up to the majors in mid-May.

The Venezuela native has a career 5.15 ERA, a 10-22 win-loss record, and 283 strikeouts in 95 games and 297.1 innings.

Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw Came Out Of Sim-Game ‘Feeling Great’ According to Dave Roberts

Before the Los Angeles Dodgers took the field in New York on Saturday in what would be an 11-3 win over the New York Yankees, manager Dave Roberts gave reporters a bit of good news regarding future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw.

Clayton Kershaw says he's staying with Dodgers

Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register posted on social media that Kershaw came out of yesterday’s sim game feeling fine, according to Roberts. Kershaw will throw another sim game next week and then start a rehab assignment. The manager also said he hasn’t decided whether Bobby Miller will make another rehab start or not.

Kershaw is considered to be ahead of schedule with his recovery from offseason surgery on the glenohumeral ligaments in his shoulder. He faced hitters at Dodger Stadium topping out around 88 mph and continued to progress in his sim game with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Roberts said Kershaw’s fastball velocity got up to 90 mph over the two innings of work with the Quakes.

The next step for the lefty will be to throw three innings against hitters next week and maybe make an appearance with some live batting practice at Dodger Stadium when the team returns home from their East Coast road trip.

If he continues to progress at this rate, he could be back sometime around the All-Star Break.
