SHOCKING: I want to leave, I feel betrayed by Indiana Fever’s harsh decision on…

Indiana Fever Coach Christie Sides No-Named Caitlin Clark To Call Her Out For Second Technical Foul.

Indiana Fever head coach Christie Sides does not want Caitlin Clark to pick up any more technical fouls for running her mouth at the officials. She called out the superstar rookie after her team’s seventh loss of the WNBA season.

Clark scored 30 points with five rebounds and six assists in a six-point loss to the Sparks on Tuesday. Sides caught a lot of heat for sitting the greatest scorer in college basketball history during a crucial second-half run by Los Angeles. However, the frustration should be directed toward other players on Indiana who could not pick up the slack while their leading scorer was on the bench.

In addition to her game-high performance, Clark also picked up the second technical foul of her rookie season.

Sides was specifically asked about the incident after the game. Her answer did not include Clark’s name because it was in direct response to the question about Clark. She chose to speak as a “we” instead of singling out one player.

It was a public condemnation of Clark. And while it might seem that way, it was actually not a slight!

Caitlin Clark Christie Sides

We’re spending too much time talking to the officials. We’ve got to leave that alone. We’ve got to just play our game and let them do their job and not put it in their hands… We shouldn’t get technicals. Let me get the technicals.

There was some push back to Sides’ comments. The head coach said that she should be the one to pick up the technical fouls, not her players. But…

The 47-year-old has not picked up any technical fouls by arguing against egregious calls and it is entirely fair to point at the discrepancy between Sides’ words and Sides’ actions.

With that being said, the second-year coach deserves credit. Clark specifically told her to use a challenge in back-to-back games and she did. The Fever lost both challenges.

To say that Christie Sides is the problem and should be fired if things don’t turn around is one thing. To say that Caitlin Clark needs a better game plan is another.

Whether true or not, a 1-7 start warrants such commentary.

To say that the head coach is not listening to her players, even if it looks that way from the outside, would not be a fair assessment. It just hasn’t clicked— yet. There is a lot of season left.
