SHOCKING: 3 Departures for West Brom, Sunderland hijack West Brom target.

Ally Robertson has delivered his concerns regarding the early summer movements at West Brom with numerous players departing.

The Albion legend claimed in his Express & Star column [27 May] that this off-season is the most crucial in some time for the club, and that he is worried about the number of players leaving The Hawthorns whilst there is uncertainty on the extent of the funds being offered to Carlos Corberan to bring in reinforcements.

West Brom secured a fifth-place berth in the Championship this season before being beaten by eventual play-off winners Southampton in the semi-finals, and at least 11 first-team players including loanees will depart the club.

“I’m a little bit concerned now by how many lads have left and more might leave, and how much money have we got to bring any into us?” said Robertson.

“This will provide Carlos Corberan his biggest opportunity to build his squad because up to now he hasn’t had to buy anybody.

“We’ve offered new deals to Cedric Kipre, Alex Mowatt and Kyle Bartley, three of our better performers this season, and it would be great if we could keep them. Ideally we can keep the players the head coach wants and we can build around that.”

Having had so many of his team see their contracts expire at the end of this season, Corberan knows he has had to cherry-pick the most crucial members of his squad for potential renewals whilst undertaking. a gargantuan recruitment mission.

Alongside the released players, contracted stars such as Darnell Furlong and Okay Yokuslu could be on their way out of the Baggies too.

The majority of incomings will have to be done early to settle a new squad during pre-season, but other deals will inevitably arrive late in the window.

West Brom must provide Corberan and the club’s recruitment staff with clarity regarding budget, and have to be generous with last year’s three promoted sides coming back down, Leeds and Norwich sticking around in the Championship, and other clubs such as Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Coventry seeking better seasons next term.
