Mets fans groan after last in Series of meltdowns ends amazin' year on sad note – New York Daily News

Ramírez, who is out of minor league options, had a 6.91 ERA in 10 games with the Mets and Orioles. Dodgers will be the seventh team for the right-hander since the last of 2022.

The Dodgers’ quest for bullpen depth continues unabated. On Monday they traded for well-traveled right-hander Yohan Ramírez, sending cash considerations for the Mets.

Ramírez has a 6.91 ERA and 3.78 xERA in 10 games with the Mets and Orioles this season, with 17 strikeouts and six walks in 14⅓ innings. He was designated for assignment by New York last Wednesday.

The Dodgers are Ramírez’s seventh team in the last three seasons, having pitched in the majors for the Mariners, Guardians, Pirates, White Sox, Mets, and Orioles since the start of 2022. He was actually with the Mets twice this season, starting the season with New York before getting traded to the Orioles on April 11. The Mets claimed him back off waivers on May 6.

In five seasons in the majors, Ramírez has a 4.29 ERA in 112 games, all relief appearances, with 145 strikeouts and 75 walks in 138⅓ innings. The 29-year-old is out of minor league options, having used option years in 2021, 2022, and 2023.

The Dodgers will need to make a corresponding roster move to add Ramírez to the 40-man roster.

It’s a busy time for the Dodgers pitching staff, transaction-wise, as the team currently has seven starting pitchers on the active roster, one of whom, Elieser Hernández, was called up for a spot start last Wednesday and is out of options. The team also used 11 different relief pitchers, a product of inserting two spot starters last week — Landon Knack was called up Sunday — and also having four of the club’s top high-leverage relievers — Evan Phillips, Brusdar Graterol, Joe Kelly, Ryan Brasier — on the injured list.

Left-hander Anthony Banda was acquired Friday from the Guardians and called up Sunday. He pitched a scoreless inning on Sunday and earned the win. Banda, like Ramírez, is out of options.

Milwaukee Brewers v New York Mets

If Ramírez gets into a game, he’ll be the 27th different pitcher used by the Dodgers this season. The team record for pitchers used in one year is 39, done in both 2021 and 2023. The 26 pitchers used so far this year is more than through 49 games in both 2021 (22 pitchers) and 2023 (22 pitchers).
