SAD MOMENT: Dolphins (NRL) top star bids farewell to club in tears.

The Dolphins have clinched a key part of their future with hooker Jeremy Marshall-King signing a new contract with the club.

Already locked in for next year, the crafty dummy half inked a three-year extension to take him through until the end of the 2028 NRL season.

Marshall-King has been a revelation for the Dolphins since playing a prominent role in the NRL club’s early existence.

He made the break that led to the Dolphins’ historic opening try in their first premiership game last year, ultimately scored by Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow.

Since then, he has become an important cog for the club, and will now be a Dolphin for at least another four years.

He forms an important part of the Dolphins’ spine strategy, with young half Isaiya Katoa and Tabuia-Fidow also signed to long-term deals.

Dolphins’ chief executive Terry Reader said Marshall-King’s signature was a huge coup for the club.

Jeremy is one of the most underrated players in the NRL competition, said Reader.

“And it is fair to say that people are quickly realising how important he is to our team.

“His contract extension is wonderful news for our members and fans, and a key part to setting the future of our club’s spine.

“We are very pleased that Jeremy and his family have decided to commit long-term with the Dolphins.”

Marshall-King has now played 128 NRL matches and also represented New Zealand in two Tests as well as playing for the Maori All Stars.

The 28-year-old, who has made more tackles than any other Dolphin in 2024, said he was happy to sign his new deal.

“I have really enjoyed my time so far at the Dolphins,” said Marshall-King.

“I have appreciated the change since moving from Sydney and my family is enjoying life around the club.

“I am also excited by the future the Dolphins have and what we can do in the NRL over the next few years.”
