Ortiz is no stranger to playing baseball up in the Boston area, however. In two of the last three summers, Ortiz has played for the Brockton Rox of the Futures Collegiate League, batting .311 with seven RBI and four stolen bases over 11 games so far this season.

During the 2022 season with Brockton, D’Angelo played on the same Rox squad with the sons of former Red Sox stars Manny Ramirez, Pedro Martinez, and Keith Foulke. Now, Ortiz will get the opportunity to follow his father’s path on the road to Fenway Park.
