GOOD NEWS: Baltimore Orioles have called up top talent ahead of Wednesday game.
The Baltimore Orioles plan to call up top prospect Jackson Holliday before Wednesday night’s game at Boston, according to a person with knowledge of the decision.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Tuesday night because the move had not yet been announced.
Holliday was the No. 1 pick in the 2022 amateur draft out of high school in Oklahoma and breezed through the minor leagues, narrowly missing out on a spot on the Orioles‘ opening-day roster last month. The 20-year-old infielder hit .333 with two home runs and five doubles in 42 at-bats during a short stint with Triple-A Norfolk this season.
Holliday is a son of seven-time All-Star and 2007 NL batting champion Matt Holliday.
The timing of Holliday’s call-up is early enough for him to receive a full year of service time. The Orioles would receive an extra pick following the first round of the 2025 amateur draft if Holliday remains in the major leagues for the rest of this season and wins AL Rookie of the Year or finishes among the top three in MVP voting.
Holliday is the game’s top-ranked prospect according to MLB Pipeline.

New Baltimore Orioles Ace Off To Historic Start
Baltimore Orioles ace Corbin Burnes had never pitched at Fenway Park before, but he got the full experience on Tuesday.
He was on the bump for the Boston Red Sox’s home opener at their historic ballpark, which opened in 1912 and is the oldest stadium in the majors. A packed house of 36,000 fans was on hand to see the Red Sox at home for the first time this season, not to mention a special 20th anniversary celebration of the team that ended the franchise’s 86-year championship drought.
None of that fazed Burnes, however, who went out and delivered a gem.
