EXCLUSIVE: Norwich are closing in a deal to sign a 24 year old talented midfielder from Bournemouth.

Norwich City are one of several Championship clubs to have registered an interest in signing Emiliano Marcondes this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Marcondes is set to become a free agent when his Bournemouth contract comes to an end on 30 June after spending three years on the south coast.

The Danish attacking midfielder impressed out on loan with Scottish side Hibernian last season, scoring three goals in just 14 starts after making the temporary switch to Edinburgh in January.

News of Marcondes’s availability on a free has alerted a host of clubs in England and also Scandinavia as they ponder a move to sign him this summer.

Sources say Norwich are keeping tabs on the 29-year-old’s situation as new manager Johannes Hoff Thorup is a big admirer of his fellow Dane after previously working with him at Nordsjaelland.

Danish clubs are also keen to offer Marcondes a move back to his homeland after he’s previously claimed the Superliga title on two occasions with Nordsjaelland and Midtjylland.

Marcondes has a proven track record in the Championship after featuring 98 times in the second tier with Brentford and Bournemouth.

The Dane helped Brentford secure promotion to the Premier League in 2021 after scoring in the Championship play-off final against Swansea City.

The attacking midfielder followed that up by earning promotion to the top flight a year later with Bournemouth.

That experience has prompted Norwich and multiple other Championship clubs to monitor his situation ahead of his deal at the Vitality Stadium expiring later this month.

But they could have to battle Danish sides to secure Marcondes’s signature as they look to offer the former Superliga Player of the Year an opportunity to return to Scandinavia in the coming weeks.
