Rangers Sign Dylan Roobroeck to Entry-Level Contract

With some “calm before the storm” types of days leading up to the Rangers kicking off their battle with the Florida Panthers in the Eastern Conference Finals, Chris Drury has gotten a head start on his summer to-do list by signing one of their prospects to his entry-level deal.

Roobroeck was a sixth round draft pick for the Rangers at last year’s entry draft and is coming off an impressive year with the Oshawa Generals in the OHL. In 68 games with the Generals, Roobroeck was well over a point-per-game pace as he totaled 72 points this season. (26 goals, 46 assists) That’s 19 points more than he had with them the season prior, almost doubling his goal total in the process.

Most notably, Roobroeck was a standout for Oshawa in the OHL playoffs as he led the team with 11 goals and 15 assists across 21 games.

It’s not difficult for the young forward to stand out seeing as he’s 6”7 and 204 lbs. With that in mind, I’ll say what everyone is likely thinking…

“Man, imagine a line of Roobroeck – Edström – Rempe?” As a sixth round pick, the expectations aren’t super high but given his last couple of seasons in the OHL, Roobroeck will certainly be an exciting name to keep an eye on for the Rangers moving forward.

Rangers Prospect Spotlight: Dylan Roobroeck

He’ll turn 20 this summer so there is a good chance he could start next season as an option for the Hartford Wolf Pack.
