The Braves completed two moves involving infielders, obtaining Short from the Red Sox and sending Guillerme to the Angels.
The Atlanta Braves made two trades involving infielders on Thursday. They acquired utility infielder Zack Short from the Boston Red Sox and traded infielder Luis Guillorme to the Los Angeles Angels, both for cash.

Guillorme was traded to the Angels after playing five games at second base and one at shortstop for the Braves this season, as well as one inning of relief pitching. Guillorme, 29, had a batting average of.150 in 20 at-bats. He formerly played with the New York Mets from 2018 to 2023, with a lifetime batting average of.258.

The Red Sox designated Short, 28, for assignment on Wednesday before trading him to the Braves for cash. Short got no hits in seven at-bats for Boston after being acquired from the Mets on May 1.

Previously, the Mets designated him for assignment on April 26. Short has played numerous infield positions this season and has a.177 lifetime batting average with 13 home runs, 55 RBIs, and eight stolen bases in 189 games between Detroit (2021-23) and the Mets.

The Texas Rangers have placed reliever pitcher Josh Sborz on the disabled list for the second time this season.
Texas Rangers pitcher Josh Sborz has been placed on the disabled list for the second time this season. This time, it’s the result of a right rotator cuff strain.

Sborz’s appearance in the second game of the Rangers’ doubleheader with Oakland on Wednesday was brief. He abandoned the game after facing only two batters because to shoulder problems.

This is the same ailment that kept him out of 17 games earlier this season, from April 7 to April 25.

He will not be eligible to return until at least May 24. So far this season, he has pitched 5 1/3 innings across seven games.

Sborz helped the Rangers win the World Series last year by recording a save in Game 5 against Arizona.

The Rangers made no quick roster moves because they did not play on Thursday. However, they must add a player to their active roster before Friday’s series opening against Colorado.
