DEAL SEALED: West Brom New Manager Latest and the truth on Carlos Corberán Vallet…
Update Emerges On West Bromwich Albion Manager Situation.
The Clarets have been on the search for a new boss since Vincent Kompany joined German giants Bayern Munich last month. Burnley are hoping to make an appointment in the coming days as they prepare to return to the Championship.
It was Kompany who guided the Lancashire outfit back into the Premier League in 2023 after storming to the Championship title, although their stay in the top tier was a brief one. They eventually finished 19th, eight points from safety as they were condemned to relegation.
They have been linked to a number of names over the past few weeks, including Liam Rosenior, Scott Parker, Ruud van Nistlerooy and Marti Cifuentes. It appears as if their search has now ramped up a gear, with reports claiming that six candidates have been interviewed over the past week.
One of those is said to be Baggies boss Corberan, who has fast become one of the most highly rated coaches in the Championship. He performed a stellar job at The Hawthorns last season, guiding the club into the play-offs despite a raft of off-field problems.
They spent the majority of the campaign inside the top six, eventually securing a fifth-placed finish. This saw them pitched against Southampton in the play-off semi-final, where they exited against the eventual winners.
The ex-Huddersfield Town manager has caught the eye of a number of clubs, including that of Leicester City. It’s not the first time that he has been linked with a move. He was handed a new deal at West Brom in early 2023 that runs until 2027 following speculation that Leeds United were interested in acquiring his services.
Former Derby County boss Frank Lampard has also been interviewed for the position at Turf Moor as he looks to return to management for the first time since departing Chelsea in 2023.
