BREAKING: Sydney Roosters Stars have been banned and charged for…

Luke Keary has escaped a ban for an apparent chicken wing tackle, after being handed an $1800 fine for dangerous contact on Shaun Johnson.

Keary headlined a lengthy NRL charge sheet on Monday, among four Sydney Roosters players finding themselves in trouble after their 38-18 win over the Warriors.

Of those charged, only back-up half Sandon Smith is facing time on the sideline, after making late contact with Dylan Walker after kicking.

Smith will face a one-match ban if he pleads guilty to the charge, while risking a second game if he fights it and loses.

Realistically, a ban could be immaterial to the Roosters given hooker Brandon Smith is every chance of returning for the big match against leaders Cronulla on Saturday.

But for the Roosters’ other stars, the punishment will come at the hip pocket.

Joseph Aukuso-Suaalii was charged with grade-one dangerous contact for leading with his knees into a tackle from Wayde Egan.

Egan needed strapping up following the contact to his head, but the Roosters centre was not penalised on the field and now faces a $1000 fine.

Keary was also not penalised for his tackle on Johnson, where the Warriors halfback’s left arm was twisted awkwardly.

Already carrying a sore left pectoral muscle earlier in the game, Johnson was in clear pain after the tackle and eventually succumbed to the injury, leaving the field much later in the game.

Angus Crichton is the other Rooster facing a fine, after being hit with a grade-one charge for tripping Dallin Waetene-Zelezniak.

North Queensland’s Griffin Neame and Reece Robson, along with Gold Coast prop Moeaki Fotuaika, were the other players charged on Monday.

But all three can escape with varying fines with early guilty pleas.
