BREAKING: Bucks Top centre back has made shocking announcement he is set to…
The Milwaukee Bucks saw their 2023-24 NBA season come to an unexpected early end. Just like last season’s disappointment, they were sent home in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, this time at the hands of the Indiana Pacers. Last season’s disappointment resulted in the firing of head coach Mike Budenholzer, who has recently been hired by the Phoenix Suns.
The Milwaukee Bucks Were Missing Giannis Antetokounmpo In the NBA Playoffs
The repercussions of this year’s disappointing loss remain to be seen, but current head coach Doc Rivers has already fired at least three of the assistant coaches that were on staff last season.
Unfortunately, the Bucks were nowhere near full strength at any point of their series against the Pacers. Khris Middleton was able to play the whole series, but was battling various leg injuries. Damian Lillard played most of the series, but missed a game with an Achilles injury that also severely limited him in the latter games of the series.
Of course, Milwaukee was fighting an uphill battle all series long because of the soleus injury suffered by Giannis Antetokounmpo towards the end of the regular season. The two-time MVP missed the final few games of the year, then was out for the first round of the playoffs.
After the Bucks were eliminated, it was revealed that he was nowhere close to being ready to play.
With the NBA Finals starting this month, it has also been revealed that Giannis is ready and healthy to return to the court.
Last week, Giannis made headlines as he was seen cheering on his brother Kostas Antetokounmpo, whose team Panathinaikos won the Euro League final. He also expressed interest in someday buying a team in the Greek Basketball League.
As it turns out, Giannis’ basketball business in Greece this summer is not limited to just watching his brother and making plans for post-retirement. In a press conference on Saturday, Vassilis Spanoulis (who is the head coach of the Greek National Team) told the media that Giannis, the country’s greatest basketball player, will play for the team in the Pre-Olympic Tournament.
“Yes, Giannis will be present in the national team,” he said.
What is not clear is if Giannis will take part in the Olympic Games themselves. The tournament he is playing in takes place from July 2-7. The Olympics themselves begin on July 26.
In any case, it is great to see Giannis is healed and ready to play basketball again. Hopefully he avoids further injury in the upcoming tournament.
