Shocking:Tiger’s pitcher exits deal, signs with rival.

It’s been a good weekend for journeyman pitcher Chase Anderson, who spent most of 2022 in the Detroit Tigers’ organization.

Anderson was released from his minor-league deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates and then almost immediately signed a new major-league deal with the Boston Red Sox. He’s expected to be on the club’s Opening Day roster as a long reliever or fifth starter.

Anderson, 36, was a reliable starting pitcher for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Milwaukee Brewers from 2014-2019, but he struggled the next two seasons.

He signed with the Tigers on a minor-league deal before the 2022 season but didn’t make the club out of spring training. He was leading the Mud Hens in games started and innings pitched when he opted out of his deal with the Tigers in mid-July.
