Highly-touted quarterback talks up Michigan football visit

2028 quarterback Donald Tabron II visited Michigan football recently and he’ll be a top priority.

The state of Michigan has produced some really good quarterback recruits in recent years with Dante Moore in the 2023 class, CJ Carr in the 2024 class, and Bryce Underwood in 2025.

Michigan football didn’t land any of those quarterbacks. They were in the mix for each but that’s three top-100 quarterbacks that the Wolverines had close to home and weren’t able to get.

It certainly feels like NIL, or lack of it, was part of that. Quarterbacks are in high demand and the best quarterbacks are going to require some sort of NIL or at least a really good NIL plan, similar to what J.J. McCarthy was able to do with NIL while he played for Michigan football.

A 2028 QB to watch for Michigan football

While the Wolverines have their quarterbacks in the 2025 class (Carter Smith) and the 2026 class (Brady Hart) another highly-touted quarterback is 2028 signal-caller out of Detroit Donald Tabron II.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound quarterback isn’t ranked yet but he’s also young as part of the 2028 class. He already feels like the next big thing in terms of in-state quarterbacks and already has offers from Michigan football, Michigan State, Penn State, Auburn, and Kentucky.

There are more offers to follow but so far, the Wolverines are impressing the talented quarterback who visited for the second time in recent months for the Michigan football recruiting BBQ.

“Had a great time at (Michigan football) yesterday,” Tabron posted on X Monday. “Even hooped some. Got a chance to spin it with some great receivers and QBs. (Brady Hart) is the truth. I can’t wait to see him in a winged helmet. Spending time with coach (Kirk Campbell) is always a learning opportunity.’
