TRADE UPDATE: Alabama owner is on the verge of landing a high profile NFC east QB as announced in the early hours of today

The Ohio State Buckeyes have reportedly added Sam Petitto to their football front office.

Pettito, who formerly served as the Alabama Crimson Tide’s director of personnel operations, will take on the same role for the Buckeyes this season. Petitto’s employment marks the third time Ohio State has hired someone fresh in that role in as many years.

This offseason, the Buckeyes have poached several pieces from the Crimson Tide football team, including renowned players like safety Caleb Downs, quarterback Julian Sayin, and offensive lineman Seth McLaughlin. Petitto, however, is Ohio State’s first hire from the Southeastern Conference’s (SEC) powerhouse.
Petitto’s role with the Buckeyes is likely to be “director of player personnel.” Petitto will be familiar with this duty because it is what he has done for the majority of his career.

Petitto spent the last eight seasons as the Crimson Tide’s director of personnel operations, reporting to departed head coach Nick Saban. Petitto joined Tuscaloosa after serving as the Georgia Bulldogs’ director of player personnel for two seasons. He had previously worked at North Carolina, Grambling State, and Southeastern Louisiana.

As previously stated, Petitto will be the third different person to fill this post at Ohio State in as many years. In 2022, the Buckeyes hired Zach Grant (present general manager of recruiting for the Cincinnati Bearcats), followed by Marc Votteler (currently associate athletic director of player personnel for Mississippi State Bulldogs football) in 2023.
