BIG SETBACK FOR BADGERS: Another Transfer departure for Badgers.

After a hectic transfer portal, with the Badgers losing several key players, let’s take a look at the five most painful departures in Wisconsin basketball history.

Davis, the twin brother of Johnny Davis, played three seasons for the Badgers without a huge impact. He went on to transfer to Illinois State, where he averaged 3.5 points per game in a backup role. Badger fans really had some higher hopes for the former guard, but he never quite developed.

Kobe King played three years in Madison and was actually turning into a valuable starter by the final season. But in a very public divorce, he announced that he had several issues with Greg Gard and the coaching staff and desired a transfer. He went on to play for Valparaiso for two seasons, averaging 16.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists in his senior year.

Storr came to Madison from St. John’s and had a huge year for the Badgers in 2023. As part of a mass exodus this offseason, he entered his name into the portal and wound up with the Kansas Jayhawks. Storr was one of the most gifted players to suit up for the Badgers and potentially could have been their most recent first round NBA draft pick since Johnny Davis had he stayed another year.

Uthoff didn’t spend much time with the Badgers, but after a lenghty transfer dispute with coach Bo Ryan, Jarrod finally made it to Iowa. Once there all he proceeded to do was average 19 points per game as a senior and make the All Big Ten first team. He even spent some time in the NBA. Safe to say the Badgers would like a re-do on this one.

Hepburn was a three year starter for Wisconsin and a Badger through and through. He even has a badger tattoo on his arm, so this one stung a bit. In a year that also saw six other Badgers transfer, this was the icing on the disgusting cake that was 2023. A bad tournament loss, a coach on the hot seat, and a fan favorite leaving for Louisville ended up being one of the roughest spring’s in recent memory for Wisconsin.
