Bo Bassett, the nation’s top high school wrestling recruit from Bishop McCort Catholic Academy, is approaching a pivotal decision in his athletic career. After an extensive recruitment process that began with approximately 80 potential colleges, Bassett has narrowed his list to nine institutions: Iowa, Iowa State, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Pitt-Johnstown, Rutgers, and Virginia Tech.
Among these, Penn State has emerged as a strong contender. Bassett recently completed an official visit to the university, accompanied by fellow wrestlers Jax Forrest and Sam Herring. Reflecting on the experience, he noted, “I have spent a lot of time training at Penn State and at NLWC, but never got to see how much fun it really is.” He added that Penn State “checked the boxes” in terms of what he’s seeking in a program.
Bassett’s decision-making process is deliberate. He emphasizes the importance of finding a program that feels like home, stating, “Once I pick it, I want it to be my home for a long time.” This careful approach underscores his commitment to making a choice that aligns with both his athletic and personal aspirations.
As Bassett nears his commitment, the wrestling community eagerly anticipates his decision, recognizing the significant impact it will have on the future of collegiate wrestling.
