Tragedy strike: five teenagers killed in School bus car crash in Outer banks

Two fatalities in crash on U.S. 64 near Alligator River Bridge
collision on the morning of Friday, Nov. 1 on U.S. 64 between Old U.S. 64 and the Alligator River Bridge.

According to Sgt. Gary Ipock of the State Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle accident, which occurred shortly after 8 a.m., was the result one vehicle crossing the center lane and striking the other head on.

The occupants of the vehicle that crossed the lane, who died as a result of the crash, were Francis Cioffari, 82, of Lake Lure, NC, and his wife Leigh, 80.  They were the only occupants of the 2018 Ford Focus.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 2018 GMC Pickup was Glen Hopkins, 65, of Manteo. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries
